Driven by a sense of purpose to inspire, enrich, and positively impact both people and the planet, we are committed to empowering people across our entire ecosystem and embracing a sustainability approach that puts circular hospitality at the core of our business. We measure our success by the meaningful contributions we can make to the world through Rosewood Empowers and Rosewood Sustains.
Rosewood Sustains showcases our commitment to growing our lifestyle ecosystem responsibly, by embracing circular hospitality and protecting our environment for future generations. The urgent need to protect and regenerate our environment is reflected in our evolving approach to every element of our business and operational strategies. From pursuing carbon neutrality to eliminating waste, we are passionate about driving the evolution of circular hospitality.
Waste Recycling Program
Rosewood San Miguel de Allende does not use the municipal garbage collection service. Since 2023, we have partnered with a local company to ensure that our waste is properly separated for responsible processing and recycling, minimizing the solid waste pollution generated by the hotel.
Our Zero Waste program has helped us divert 85% of our waste from landfills. We are on track to soon achieve our goal of diverting at least 90% of all waste.
Food waste is donated as animal feed to a local farm producer, creating a positive impact through circularity by diverting waste from landfills and preventing methane gas production, a potent greenhouse gas.
In February 2025, we achieved certification under the highest sustainability standard by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), reaffirming the property’s commitment to meeting the highest sustainability standards in the ultra-luxury hospitality industry.
Water Purification System
We have eliminated the use of single-use plastic bottles throughout the hotel by implementing our own water purification system, which produces high-quality drinking water bottled in glass. Additionally, our associates have access to this purified water through dedicated taps that comply with all health and safety standards—further reducing plastic waste and promoting a cleaner planet.
Laundry Operations
Given the amount of water required for hotel operations, particularly in the laundry area, we use biodegradable detergents to minimize environmental impact on water resources and facilitate treatment at our wastewater treatment plant. The corporate VERDES initiative allows guests to choose not to change their linens daily during their stay.
Rosewood Empowers encapsulates our belief in equal access to opportunity by empowering all our communities. We seek talent from underserved groups through employment opportunities and uplift livelihoods through local hiring, sourcing and partnerships. With diversity, equity and inclusion embedded in all that we do, we invest in our associates’ professional growth, wellbeing and personal development and are committed to building inclusive workplaces that welcome people from all walks of life.
Employment Opportunity Program
Rosewood San Miguel de Allende strives to be an inclusive company that o ers equal access to opportunities for all groups, especially those that are underserved or disadvantaged. This is why the Opportunity Employment program is a key pillar of Rosewood Empowers, connecting underserved communities to careers in the hotel industry.
Investing in Future Talents
Through internship programs with various universities in Mexico and around the world, we welcome an average of 30 students per year, training them as future leaders in the industry. These students rotate through diferent departments of the hotel, learning the quality standards and language skills necessary to be part of an ultra-luxury hotel.
Empowering Individual Capacities
Rosewood San Miguel de Allende supports underprivileged communities through the White Donation program. Since 2020, we have donated bedding, towels, and other linens to humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross, the fire department, and local NGOs that provide aid during emergency situations, natural disasters, and more.
Cañada de la Virgen
Cañada de la Virgen is an archaeological and ecological site featuring an ancient Otomí ceremonial pyramid surrounded by a natural canyon. It combines cultural heritage with native flora and fauna, accessible only through guided tours that protect the site’s integrity.
Charco del Ingenio
Charco del Ingenio is a botanical garden and nature reserve located on the edge of a dramatic canyon. It houses a vast collection of endemic plants, including rare cacti, and is a sanctuary for birds and other wildlife. The trails offer visitors a peaceful experience immersed in nature.
