While sailing is by no means exclusive to any given corner of the world, there’s a reason why the sport’s most fervent fanatics turn their eyes again and again to the waters of St. Barth, an enclave seemingly plucked from the South of France and placed in the Caribbean Sea. Sailing is part of the island’s DNA, with its early Spanish explorers, French and Swedish settlers, pirates and premiere perennial events.

Out at sea, St. Barth’s friendly fishermen will accompany guests on a deep-sea fishing excursion, demonstrating a variety of trusted techniques and showcasing a unique perspective of the island’s treasured waters. The experience may be accompanied by the hotel’s Cook Your Catch program, in which the day’s haul is cooked to order by one of the hotel’s chefs. Picnic lunches may also be arranged.
Single- and double-tank diving excursions depart from the hotel’s beach or from the harbor in Gustavia. Taking place within sites in the Caribbean or Atlantic waters off St. Barth, dive options include reef diving, deep diving, night diving, wreck diving and customized diving. The diving school is certified PADI, CMAS and FFESSM, and beginner lessons are administered in a swimming pool and/or in the lagoon.
A variety of surfing spots around the island encourage surfers of all abilities and ages to test the waves, with warm waters allowing for a full day of fun. St. Jean and Lorient, home to the island’s best lessons are ideal for beginner and intermediate surfers, while Pointe Milou and Toiny offer optimum waves for more experienced surfers.
