As part of the Future of Traditions collaboration between Rosewood Phuket and Philip Huang, this one-night-only dinner invites you on a culinary journey that seamlessly blends heritage with innovation. Curated by Rosewood Phuket PlaceMaker and designer Philip Huang, this event held on Friday, 27 December 2024 at Ta Khai celebrates the connections between food, culture, and artistry.
Bringing together the talents of celebrated chefs and artists, the evening features an 8-hand dinner inspired by the flavors and traditions of the Finnish and Malaya archipelagos, enriched with elements from Northern Thailand and Southern Thailand:
- Antto Melasniemi, a Finnish chef and artist known for his innovative culinary storytelling, blending Nordic and Southeast Asian traditions through sustainable ingredients and indigenous practices.
- Rirkrit Tiravanija, a globally acclaimed artist based between Chiang Mai, New York, and Berlin, whose work in relational aesthetics uses food and shared experiences as a medium to foster cultural dialogue.
- Auntie Yai and Uncle Nan, Ta Khai’s legendary chefs, who bring their deep expertise in Southern Thai cuisine and traditional flavors to this collaborative table.
This experiential dinner celebrates the intersection of past, present, and future culinary traditions. Drawing from the bastions of ancient recipes, local seasonal ingredients, and migratory influences, the event invites you to savor dishes that bridge regional boundaries and reimagine global gastronomy.
