Driven by a sense of purpose to inspire, enrich and positively impact both people and the planet, we are committed to empowering people across our entire ecosystem and to embracing a sustainable approach that puts circular hospitality at the core of our business. We measure our success by the meaningful contribution we can make to the world through Rosewood Sustains and Rosewood Empowers.
Rosewood Sustains showcases our commitment to growing our lifestyle ecosystem responsibly, by embracing circular hospitality and protecting our environment for future generations. The urgent need to protect and regenerate our environment is reflected in our evolving approach to every element of our business and operational strategies. From pursuing carbon neutrality to eliminating waste, we are passionate about driving the evolution of circular hospitality.
Located on Level 9, our 50 square meter Hydroponic Garden offers natural and wholesome food, grown in a sustainable and soil-less environment. We are dedicated to sourcing 100% of our greens domestically, ensuring the freshest and highest-quality ingredients for our guests.
In 2022, our associates came together to raise awareness about preserving and increasing the number of trees in our community. We embarked on a trip to Koh Kong province, where we planted 2,000 mangrove trees to help safeguard water quality, stabilize the coastline and create a nurturing environment for fish and shellfish.
In 2022, we partnered with Vattanac Property Limited on a project to collect plastic waste from our riverbanks. 40 associates joined the effort, focusing on the Mekong and Tonle Sap riverbanks and successfully collected two tons of plastic waste.
Our associates participated in the monthly Tikrong Sa’art initiative, also known as Clean City, volunteering their time to collect and clear garbage from the streets of Phnom Penh.
The majority of our food waste is returned to the soil. This is achieved through partnerships with local suppliers, who receive our food waste and convert it into compost.
Two tons of glass bottles used by the Hotel were donated to the Coconut School to construct school buildings and classrooms. Additionally, our wet and dry amenities are 100% sustainable, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Rosewood Empowers encapsulates our belief in equal access to opportunity by empowering all our communities. We seek talent from underserved groups through employment opportunities and uplift livelihoods through local hiring, sourcing and partnerships. With diversity, equity and inclusion embedded in all that we do, we invest in our associates’ professional growth, wellbeing and personal development and are committed to building inclusive workplaces that welcome people from all walks of life.
Launched in 2021, this program is delivered in partnership with École d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule. Its aim is to offer hands-on learning opportunities to disadvantaged Cambodian youth who are pursuing a career in the hospitality industry. In 2023, we welcomed the first batch of 15 students. Each of them received a monthly allowance of USD160, in addition to service charge payments, complimentary room and board, and medical insurance. The program not only provides financial support but also offers invaluable real-world experience.
In collaboration with local NGOs such as PSE, Paul Dubrule, Sala Bai and Don Bosco, we offer students training and learning opportunities at one of Rosewood Phnom Penh's outlets. Over 100 of these students have gone on to become full-time associates.
This program gives our colleagues the chance to transfer to another department of their choice for additional experience, enabling them to push themselves further towards a career that aligns with their future aspirations.
Every year, the Rosewood Phnom Penh family embarks on a journey to the rural provinces of Cambodia to donate school supplies and food items to those most in need. Donations are made through a number of organizations including the Coconut School, SOS Children's Village Kampot, Steung Keav and the Meat Peam School. Through these initiatives, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families in these areas. By providing essential resources, we hope to support their educational journey and alleviate some of the challenges they face. We plan to expand these outreach efforts in the future.
Rosewood Phnom Penh joined forces with Vattanac Property Limited to deliver an informative workshop for the students of Chamka Le. The session gave them invaluable insights into the various career opportunities available within the Cambodian hospitality industry.
